Brother James Wilson

James wilson
Youth Minister

James was born in Oxford, Mississippi and was raised in a small, rural community outside of town. He graduated from Bruce High School, then earned a Bachelor’s of Business Administration degree from the University of Mississippi before eventually earning his Master’s of Arts in Christian Education degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

James has over 20 years of ministerial experience in the areas of Youth Ministry, Church Education, and outreach. He has served in churches of various sizes in both Mississippi and Louisiana. He loves hanging out with teenagers and getting to know them and discovering where they are in life.

He bases his Youth Ministry viewpoint on three very important principles: first, teenagers are not just the future of the church, they are a vital part of the church today; second, healthy Youth Ministries should have a balanced focus on worship, discipleship, fellowship, evangelism, and service, with opportunities provided throughout the year that focus on each; lastly, Youth Ministries should be more outward focused than inward focused, meaning that the youth ministry is not a social club to belong to, but instead is a ministry to be a part of.

When not working, James enjoys spending time with his wife Melissa. They both enjoy drinking coffee from all the local coffee shops, exploring restaurants in the area, walking on the beach, and cheering on the New Orleans Saints. James has the additional hobby of collecting memorabilia from his favorite movie franchise, Star Wars!
